Reviewer Guidelines
1. Introduction
The BSU Journal of Education (BSUJE) relies on the expertise, integrity, and objectivity of its reviewers to maintain high academic and ethical standards. Reviewers play a vital role in ensuring that manuscripts published in the journal are original, scholarly, and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of knowledge in education and related disciplines.
These guidelines are designed to assist reviewers in performing their duties effectively and professionally.
2. Purpose of Peer Review
Peer review aims to:
· Assess the quality, originality, and relevance of submitted manuscripts.
· Provide constructive feedback to authors to help improve their work.
· Assist the Editorial Board in making informed publication decisions.
3. Reviewer Responsibilities
Reviewers are expected to:
1. Accept Review Assignments Promptly
- Confirm their ability to review within the stipulated time (usually two to three weeks).
- Decline the invitation if the topic is outside their area of expertise or if they have a conflict of interest.
2. Maintain Confidentiality
- Treat all manuscripts and review materials as confidential.
- Do not share, copy, or discuss the manuscript with anyone without prior permission from the Editor.
3. Be Objective and Constructive
- Provide fair, unbiased, and evidence-based evaluations.
- Avoid personal criticism or harsh language.
- Suggest concrete ways the author can improve the manuscript.
4. Identify Ethical or Scholarly Issues
- Notify the Editor of any suspected plagiarism, data fabrication, unethical research practices, or duplicate submission.
- Comment on the ethical soundness of the study where applicable (e.g., informed consent, use of human participants).
5. Respect Deadlines
- Submit the review report within the agreed timeframe.
- Request an extension early if more time is needed.
4. Structure of the Review Report
Reviewers should base their comments on the following key areas:
1. Title and Abstract
- Are they clear, concise, and reflective of the study content?
2. Introduction / Background
- Does it demonstrate relevance, originality, and a clear research problem or objective?
3. Literature Review
- Is it up-to-date, comprehensive, and appropriately referenced?
- Does it establish a clear theoretical or conceptual framework?
4. Methodology
- Are the research design, participants, instruments, and procedures clearly described and appropriate?
- Are data analysis methods valid and reliable?
5. Results and Discussion
- Are findings clearly presented and logically discussed?
- Are interpretations supported by data and related to the research questions?
6. Conclusion and Recommendations
- Are conclusions justified by the results?
- Do recommendations align with findings and have practical relevance?
7. Organization and Language
- Is the manuscript logically structured and clearly written?
- Are grammar, punctuation, and referencing consistent with the journal’s style guide (APA 7th Edition)?

Reviewers must:

7. Communication with the Editorial Office
- All correspondence and review reports should be submitted via the official BSUJE editorial email or online system.
